RPG/Races

From Mahou Galaxy Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Using Subraces: When you create your character, you may choose any of the subraces instead of the base races. Playing a subrace is a little different and more complicated than playing a base race. Take the subrace's stat mods rather than the base race's. Take the race's advantages and disadvantages, referred to as the "Racial package", before taking advantages and disadvantages of your own. If the race package contains advantages or disadvantages that you do not wish your character to have, you may remove them, but not at normal price. To remove a racial disadvantage at character creation(or when you take your first level as that subrace), you must pay double that disadvantage's XP value. To remove an unwanted racial advantage, you simply remove it, without gaining XP for doing so. You must take your first level in a subrace using that subrace's progression(HP, MP, Skill points, Stat points, special abilities), but so long as you have a level in a subrace, as long as you are that subrace you may level as either that subrace or as that subrace's base race.

New Subraces: If your character is transformed into a member of a subrace, for the duration of that transformation the advantages and disadvantages of that subrace apply to them, with no way to remove them. If, however, the player wishes to stay as that race, they may not take any other racial levels until they have taken a level as their current subrace. Until then, the advantages and disadvantages of the racial package continue to apply. Once they have bought their first level, the racial package is re-applied to them as though they had taken if during character creation. If the package contains advantages that the character already possesses, they receive a refund of XP equal to the cost of those advantages. If the racial package contains a disadvantage that your character already has or cannot take for some other reason, then the value of that disadvantage is added to the cost of the first level in that subrace. You may also elect to buy off any disadvantages for double XP value or pass on any advantages as in character creation, but this must be done when the first level of that subrace is bought. When a disadvantage is bought off, you should strike through it rather than erasing it. If you have paid off a disadvantage that is part of a racial package, you do not need to buy it off again. However, when buying race packages, the value of that disadvantage is added to the XP cost as it is treated as though it's not part of the package and therefore not paying its share of the cost of the advantages.

Racial Levels

To gain levels in a race, you must spend experience points while you are that race. Experience points represent time spent learning through experiences. Experience points are earned by attending classes, completing quests, winning sanctioned duels, and defeating monsters. The cost for race levels is as follows:

Racial Level XP Cost (Total) XP Cost (Per level)
1 - -
2 1000 1000
3 2000 1000
4 3000 1000
5 5000 2000
6 7000 2000
7 9000 2000
8 11000 2000
9 14000 3000
10 17000 3000
11 20000 3000
12 23000 3000
13 27000 4000
14 31000 4000
15 35000 4000
16 39000 4000
17 44000 5000
18 49000 5000
19 54000 5000
20 59000 5000

Expanded Racial Level Table

Every 4 levels, the price to level increases by another 1000, so levels 21-24 would cost 6000 more each, and so on.

Note this is the total level of all your races. Note also that these are total costs, not costs for the next level. Subtract the current level’s cost from the cost of the next level to determine the next level’s cost.

Example: A 10th-level human would pay 3000 (23000-20000) XP for a level in spirit, as it is their eleventh total level.

You can level in any race while you’re that race. You do not have to stay that race permanently, you only need to spend the XP while it is your current race. This reflects experiences gleaned while in that body. When figuring your racial totals, add everything from all your races together.

When leveling in a race, replace that race’s line in your character sheet with the level you’ve bought. Remember that the bonus skill and stat points are a total that you’ve gained as that race, not how many you get that level. If your race changes, you keep your HP, MP, skill and stat points, as well as any racial abilities. The only thing that changes is the racial stat modifiers.
