Special Abilities
Spells XMP (Clean): Custodians may cast spells up to X MP.
Restrictions: Custodian spells may be of any element.
Casting Cost: Custodian spells have no cost to cast.
Spell Alterations: Custodian spells that deal damage deal one die less damage from each set of dice rolled. Spells with an area of effect do not alter man-made structures, damage them, or even mar them in any way. The custodian may choose which targets are affected within a spell's area of effect. Custodians cannot use spell boosts that affect any damage the spell deals.
Casting Actions/Stat/Skill: Custodian spells must be channeled through an enhanced cleaning instrument*, such as a broom, mop, vacuum cleaner, or feather duster. The character must be wielding any such implement and take three hand actions to cast the spell. These actions may also be attacks, and they count toward the total whether they hit an opponent or not, but if attack actions are used to cast the spell, the targets for that spell may only be chosen from among those targeted with those attacks. The Custodian rolls their Home Ec skill with their Accuracy stat.
Learning spells: When a custodian uses their Magic Clean ability within 10 minutes of the encounter that produced the magical residue, they may choose to clean up the effects of a specific spell cast during that encounter first. So long as they would normally be able to cast that spell, they learn that spell, complete with any boosts that do not affect the spell's damage. A custodian may only learn a single spell per encounter cleanup in this manner.
Magic Clean X: Custodians can clean away magical residue from areas that have been affected by magical spells. Using an enchanted cleaning instrument, like the one they use to cast spells, they can scrub away this mess into a magic bag* they have purchased for just this purpose. They may clear X mp of mess away per round, no more than the cost of the spells cast in the area that day. They can then use this MP for custodian spells as though it were their own MP, so long as the bag is within 20 feet. The magic charge held in the bag dissipates over the course of the student's sleep.
Spell Absorb +X: Custodians who are hit with spells take X less damage from each die of damage rolled. For every point of damage they do not take, they regain 1 MP, never gaining more than their max MP.
- To qualify as a cleaning instrument for Custodian casting, an item must be a weapon or mundane item that resembles a cleaning tool, such as a broom, mop, vacuum cleaner, etc. that has a +2 quality enhancement, "Magic-cleaning."
- A Magic Cleaning Bag is a special item that stores MP derived from the Magic Clean ability. The amount of MP a bag can store is determined by its value. A $300 bag can store 50 MP, a $1000 bag can store 100 MP, a $2500 bag can store 150 MP, and a $5000 bag can store 200 MP.
