Study +X(Y Classes): The primary ability of the student is their amazing study habits. A student may use their study ability to prepare for a test the next day, giving them an advantage over other students. The two important factors with this ability are the bonus given to the test roll and the number of classes a student may study for in a single hour. The bonus granted by studying only applies for test rolls made in that class the next day; therefore a student may not stack study attempts over more than a day. Furthermore, the student may not study more than once per night for a single class. A student may study for a number of classes equal to the “Y Classes” indicated by their student level with every hour they spend studying.
The student’s study bonus is a total modifier that the student may divide as they wish among all rolls related to the test. If the test is a single Intelligence roll, for example, a student with a +6 bonus could apply the entire bonus of +6 to that roll. If a test was a triathlon in Gym, however, the student might choose to add +6 to one of the three rolls, or distribute the +6 bonus among the three events as they see fit. These bonus points must be spent before the roll is made.
Concentrate(+X/YMP): After a student goes through enough of his academic career, he begins to learn how to apply common sense and work logically through problems, both in school and in other situations. To reflect this ability, experienced students may, given ample time to concentrate, expend Mental Points to gain bonuses to their skill checks. This ability costs 10 MP per bonus point gained, and has a maximum spent/bonus gained listed in the facet’s special abilities section. In general, whether this ability can be used is up to your GM, though he should allow use of the ability whenever your character is allowed to take his time, regardless of how stressful the situation is. As a general rule, if a character has at least a minute to prepare and “psych up” for a task, he may use their concentrate ability.
X Excel Subjects: A student will gradually pick up on more than the basics for their learned materials. Every time they gain this ability, they may choose a skill. They may choose the same skill multiple times. If it was not there already, that skill is added to the Student's subject list while they have this ability, and they gain a +1 bonus to all rolls made with that skill, as though it were a specialty skill. These bonuses stack with each other and with any matching specialty skill bonuses the character might have.
