Note that this ability refers to the actual number shown on the die itself, not counting any modifiers, including any from a high stat, so while it could duplicate the initial 12 rolled on a d12, it would not copy any subsequent numbers rolled during that copy. It would, however, allow you to reroll that 12, and if multiple 12s were copied, they could be pasted in sequence to create a high result. You could not, however, use this ability to grant a result of 12 on a d10, for example.
